I took up running as a hobby in 2007. I chose running to keep fit as it was something I can fit around my life. Being a working mum, finding a work and family life balance is very important to me.
Since this time I have completed many 5k and 10k races. After completing the 10k distance, I started to look at joining a club to progress with my training and find fellow runners to train with. From there onwards, I entered a whole new world of runs such as Hellrunner and trail running and progressed to running longer distances. Then a year before my 40th Birthday, I entered my first Marathon!
Most memorable or proudest running moment
Completing the Brighton Marathon is my best running achievement to date. I trained with a group of people who were also aiming to complete their first Marathon and it was amazing to have support and encouragement from others going through the same experience. I really enjoyed being part of a group and I made some great friends.
In April 2016 I completed my Leadership in Running Fitness course and quickly learned how rewarding it can be to help other runners. I have helped and led in two ‘Learn to Run’ courses and I look forward to developing my run leading skills more in the future, as well as supporting the new club members in achieving their running goals.
Fun facts about me
I love spending time with my family and our Labrador puppy Daisy (she won’t be a puppy for very long!). I hate shopping (say what?) but I love visiting interesting places and enjoying a glass of wine.
