After completing the Moonwalk and Race for Life (which I walked!), my friend and I decided we wanted to actually run Race for Life. So in 2007 having spoken to my spin teacher, I started running on the treadmill increasing a minute at a time. I then found out about a new run club that was starting at my gym so I went along. I won’t lie… it was tough and we ached like hell for days after at first, which strangely we started to enjoy! shortly after, we were so pleased to complete our first race and continued on to enter other 5k races. Then in 2008 I sustained two prolapsed discs and running was put on hold (to concentrate on trying to walk). 15 months later I returned to running and have not looked back.
In 2014 after Simone got a place in the London Marathon, I said I would join her for some of her training runs and in a moment of madness, entered the Brighton Half Marathon 2014, which I was so pleased to finish in 2.29. The adrenaline and excitement saw me enter again for 2015, beating the previous year’s time by 6 minutes!!
Most memorable or proudest running moment
Finishing my first half marathon in under 2.30 and completing Hellrunner 2015 (10+ miles of hills, mud and the dreaded ‘Bog of Doom’)!
Fun facts about me
I enjoy spin classes, running (of course), dancing and love to travel… I also enjoy shopping, especially for bags and shoes!
